University of Agostinho Neto — ~50,000–70,000 students
Angola’s largest and most important public university system, especially strong in medicine, engineering, and law. It remains the main training pipeline for government and professional careers.

Catholic University of Angola — ~10,000–15,000 students
A leading private university with strong programs in business, communications, and social sciences. It has growing influence in Luanda’s professional job market.

Language: Arabic & French

Chad is a nation where more than half the population is Sunni Muslim. Chad is home to a small number of universities. Though this may seem limiting, it means that access to the entire nation of Chad can be reached within a concentrated area.

Chad’s flagship public university and the main center for higher education in the country. It trains most of the nation’s civil servants and teachers.

Cameroon is located in West Africa. It can be described as an “ethnic crossroads,” consisting of more than 200 ethnic groups that create the country’s diverse culture. With over 40 universities in the capital city alone, Cameroon’s universities provide a unique opportunity to reach all of these ethnic groups in one place.

University of Yaoundé I — ~50,000–60,000 students
One of Cameroon’s largest and most influential universities with strong programs in science, medicine, and engineering. It is a central research hub in Central Africa.

University of Douala — ~40,000–55,000 students
A major urban university specializing in business, economics, and applied sciences. Its location in Cameroon’s economic capital gives it strong industry connections.

Language: French

The DRC is the largest country in Sub-Saharan Africa, the Capital’s largest university enrolling over 29,000 students. The DRC is still recovering from a past ravaged by civil war (lasting from 1998-2003). However, this brokenness has created a hunger among university students for change in their country. We believe God wants to use the next generation of leaders in the the DRC to redeem it’s painful past and bring peace!

University of Kinshasa — ~30,000–50,000 students
The country’s flagship university and one of the most important in Central Africa. It is especially known for medicine, law, and political science.

University of Lubumbashi — ~25,000–40,000 students
A major university in the mining region of the country, with strong engineering and applied science programs. It supports the large copperbelt economy.

Language: Oromo & Amharic

The nation of Ethiopia is rich in history, culture, and influence across Africa. Yet in recent years, ethnic divisions, conflict, and political unrest have left deep wounds throughout the country. Lasting hope for Ethiopia lies in the hands of its next generation of leaders. Many of these future leaders are currently studying at universities across the nation. Through intentional discipleship and Christ-centered leadership development, they can become peacemakers who bring reconciliation, unity, and lasting transformation to Ethiopia.

Addis Ababa University — ~50,000–70,000 students
Ethiopia’s flagship university and one of the most important research institutions in Africa. It is especially strong in medicine, engineering, and social sciences.

Bahir Dar University — ~40,000–60,000 students
A major regional university known for engineering, hydrology, and teacher training. It plays a key role in Ethiopia’s infrastructure development.

Language: French

Gabon, densely covered in rainforest, is a nation located on the coast of West Africa. Church is already an important part of Gabon’s culture, creating open doors for conversations about Jesus with students in local universities.

Omar Bongo University — ~20,000–25,000 students
Gabon’s primary public university and the center of humanities and social sciences education. It is closely tied to government administration careers.

Institut National des Sciences de Gestion — ~3,000–6,000 students
A specialized business and management institution. It focuses on preparing students for banking, finance, and public administration roles.

The country of Ivory Coast is a prosperous nation that is predominantly Islamic. However, this prosperity has come at great cost: years of war and unrest. The largest university in Ivory Coast and one of the biggest francophone universities in Africa. It is a major center for research and professional training.

Université Nangui Abrogoua — ~20,000–30,000 students
Strong in science, technology, and environmental studies. It contributes heavily to agricultural and environmental research in West Africa.

Language: English & Chichewa

The nation of Malawi is one of the most rural and poor nations in Africa. Education is highly valued in Malawi because it is seen as a way out of the cycle of poverty. It is easy to see how this nation is full of potential for change through the discipleship of university students.

University of Malawi — ~20,000–25,000 students
Malawi’s oldest university system and most prestigious institution. It produces much of the country’s leadership in law, medicine, and education.

Mzuzu University — ~8,000–12,000 students
Focused on education, health sciences, and environmental studies. It plays a strong regional development role in northern Malawi.

The widely English speaking nation of Nigeria is Africa’s most populous country. The Nigerian government allows for religious freedom, providing an amazing opportunity to work with the nearly 90 million muslims living in the country. With over 400 universities, there are an abundance of opportunities to meet Nigerian students and disciple them freely.

University of Lagos — ~60,000–80,000 students
A massive urban university with strong business, law, and engineering programs. It has deep connections to Nigeria’s commercial and tech sectors.

South Sudan is the youngest country in the world. After decades of religious conflict, the country now has a majority Christian population. Juba, the capital city, is home to the largest university. There, over 20,000 students are eagerly waiting to continue to lead their nation further away from civil war and towards the heart of God.

University of Juba — ~10,000–15,000 students
The country’s leading university and key institution for rebuilding higher education after years of conflict. It focuses on education, agriculture, and social sciences.

Upper Nile University — ~4,000–8,000 students
A regional university focused on teacher training and applied sciences. It plays an important role in developing northern South Sudan.

Language: Swahili & English

Tanzania places high value on both family and education. Family is so central within the culture that educated family members are often expected to be responsible for the education and well-being of younger siblings.
